Rieke Köster got to know the Kunstpavillon Burgbrohl and the region in summer 2018 during an excursion of the project "Art Mentoring“ and developed the idea for a research stay on site. The artist works process-oriented and transforms the perceived, using hiking and walking as a tool through which she tries to let herself be penetrated by the environment and nature. Collected impressions are translated by artistic means into abstract drawings, texts, photography, collages or installations. Paint, sand, paper, wood or found objects are artistic material and meet in a work.
Rieke Köster was born in 1985 and studied fine arts (sculpture and painting) at the Kunsthochschule Mainz from 2010 to 2016. In 2016 she graduated as a master student and received the Master Class Scholarship of the Lionsclub Mainz and in 2018 the residence scholarship at Schloss Wiepersdorf from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In 2019 her work was shown in the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck as part of the scholarship exhibition "Designing the Future".
